Yesterday I watched the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. Have you seen it?
I got 5 business & data lessons out of the movie:
(1) π₯ ππ’π‘'π§ π§πππ. ππ«πππ¨π§π.
Queen recorded the album βNight at the Operaβ in only 3 weeks, on a remote location.
(2) π½ πππ₯π π§π’ ππ ππππππ₯ππ‘π§.
Freddie Mercury was a perfect example of authenticity.
Yes, everyone knows it. βBe yourself.β
But if you're honest: as a data professional how much do you adapt your behavior at work?
(3) π‘ ππ‘π’πͺ π¬π’π¨π₯ ππ₯ππ‘π & ππ¨ππππ‘ππ.
Freddie had a crisp and clear answer to the question: βWhat makes Queen different?β
How good do you know the people that use your data insights?
(4) π π§πππ π₯ππ¦ππ¦.
Most music singles are only 3 minutes long.
Despite pushback, Queen released Bohemian Rhapsody as the single of their new album. Length: 6 minutes.
How much risk do you take as a data analyst or scientist?
(5) π π§πππ‘π πππ.
Freddie had a bold vision and expressed it freely.
This is something I want to do more.
It's not easy.
At times, thereβs a voice in my head.
"Donβt be this 'know-it-all' person. Don't be arrogant."
But when I listen to this voice, I am limiting myself.
Something to work on in 2021 π
