My 1-year-old vs. Data Storytelling

Today my 1-year-old daughter tried to climb the stairs.

She fell.
She tried again.
She fell.
Again.
She fell.
After the 5th time, I helped her up one step.
But then I stopped myself.
That’s not what I want.
She’ll figure it out.
In her own time.
No rush.
It’s the same in data storytelling.
At first, every step feels slippery.
Your message doesn’t land.
Your slide confuses.
Your point gets ignored.
But if you keep going, something shifts.
You learn how to hold attention.
You learn how to make insights stick.
You learn how to move people to action.
And once you can climb those stairs?
The stairs don’t stop at the first floor.
They open to the whole building.
Because data storytelling isn’t just another skill.
It’s the skill that takes you higher.
Keep on climbing!
Thanks for reading.
